Around the table you will find:
Laura Bagby ¾an honors graduate from the University of Hawaii with a degree in social work who has spent the past 30 plus years working with the Miskito Indians in N.E. Nicaragua. Laura also holds a degree in cosmetology, is a certified aerobics instructor, and the mother of four children. She is an accomplished chef and founder of the Rio Coco Café. Laura brings a unique perspective and practical experience to our table.

Dr. Randall Smith ¾an archeologist and Bible professor who has resided in Jerusalem for most of the past three decades. Randy holds degrees in Near East archaeology and a doctorate in comparative religion from Hebrew University in Jerusalem and is respected as one of the foremost Bible teachers in the Land. Randy is the author of numerous books on Biblical culture as well as many onsite video studies. He leads study tours in Israel, Greece, Turkey, Italy and Europe, as well as founding the Great Commission Bible Institute in Sebring Florida. He has a profound understanding of Biblical culture, history, geography, and especially rabbinical teachings, yet focuses on the practical steps of our faith. Randy will help us understand what that first-century person was thinking when he heard the words of Jesus. His comments will be preceded by “RS.”

Michael Bagby ¾a missionary pilot, historian, and coffee roaster who is an honors graduate from Miami University with a degree in history. Michael flew A-6 Intruders in the US Navy before becoming a skier in Colorado. After moving to Maui he graduated from the Logos School of the Bible. He has been working in Central America with the Miskito Indians since 1984 and was one of the founders of Project Ezra, a primary/secondary education project along the Coco River located in one of the most remote regions in the Western Hemisphere. Michael and Laura also started the Rio Coco Café on the western Caribbean island of Utila in 2011, followed by the Rio Coco Café and coffee roastery in Vero Beach Florida that same year. Michael and Laura have traaveled with Randy Smith on numerous study tours to Israel, Italy, Greece and Turkey. Michael’s thoughts will be noted by “MB.”

Mikaela, Lukas, Arielle, and Moselle Bagby ¾These four have grown up traveling through the jungles of Central America, walking through the ruins of ancient cultures in the Middle East and Europe, and serving in the Rio Coco Café ministry. They all are accomplished athletes and martial arts experts, and run a business that sends thousands of dollars to the Nicaraguan school project each year. They will pop into our conversations to ask pertinent questions and make comments.

And most importantly, The Holy Spirit¾the Author of the Bible and the most profound teacher in the cosmos. It is only His teaching and His empowering that will make any difference in our lives. Our comments are only an effort to provide a framework through which He will speak. This is not meant to be a theological treatise but simply the offering of some practical perspectives on spiritual life.

Living in the Spiritual World is a transcript of six 45 minute audio recordings made on September 14, 1999 at the recording studio of the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem Israel between Dr Randall Smith, Ph.D Comparative Religions / Rabinnical Literature, Hebrew University and Michael Bagby, B.A. European History Miami University.
Michael later added portions of questions and comments by the Bagby children and essays by Laura Bagby, B.S. Social Work, University of Hawaii, Magna Cum Laude.
